Mafia III : Be Careful About the Underbosses
Mafia III hits shelves later this year on October 7th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Before the launch of the game, we have learned a lot about the open world crime game at E3. Lead writer Bill Harms has told us what to expect from the game, and his given us a little insight on the politics of the underbosses, that will have a huge impact on the game.
The game is set in the late sixties in Bordeaux, game’s version of New Orleans.
Harms indicated that Mafia III will have all things that will make the gameplay feel accurate to the time period of the game. This would include radio stations and the weapons of the 60s. Lincoln Clay, the protagonist, with the help of 3 mob leaders is trying to take revenge from Sal Marcano on the deaths of the black mob. The three mob leaders or underbosses who assist him in this pursuit are Vito Scaletta, the protagonist from Mafia II; Cassandra, leader of the Haitian gang; and Thomas Burke, from the Irish mob.
As Harms has said, it will be imperative to keep the underbosses happy. If anyone of them feels that the other is being favoured, or that they are being neglected they will get furious and threaten to leave. So managing them will be a crucial affair in the game because you wouldn’t want to be facing consequences while seeking revenge. Rather be careful enough and ensure that no underboss goes neglected.
Harms said, “As you play through the game, you can assign out one of the nine districts to one of the underbosses … One of the things we’re really trying to do is have these rich, deep characters in terms of the underbosses … Depending on how the player assigns those districts, it can turn one of those underbosses against you … So, in the case that you’re talking about, Cassandra and Vito have received all the districts up to that point, and Burke was like, ‘I’m done.’ And basically at that point, they revolt against Lincoln and he has to deal with it.”
