Irrational Games Now Ghost Story

Irrational Games Now Ghost Story

Ghost Story Games was previously known as Irrational Games. They belong to the family of Rockstar Games, 2K Games, Rockstar North and more, under the parent company Take Two Interactive. Three years back, in February 2014 they had let off most of their employees, keeping back just 15. They wanted to focus on making games for the “core” gaming audience. This is the same studio that has developed the BioShock and SWAT franchises.

February seems to be a month when they make their biggest changes. This year they have adopted a new name, moving away from Irrational Games. They will be now known as Ghost Story Games. They made the announcement on their website, “Ghost Story was founded by twelve former Irrational Games developers and our mission is simple: to create immersive, story-driven games for people who love games that ask something of them. While we believe our new games will have strong appeal to fans of BioShock, our new focus allows us to craft experiences where the gameplay is as challenging as the stories.”

But that seems to be it, as they have no detailed anything about their upcoming releases. It has been known for some time now that they have been working on a new game. The project is absolutely fresh, and doesn’t seem be a spin-off of any sorts from the games earlier released.

Senior animator Seth Kendall said, “Real focus on making core games for core gamers. Emphasis on making games with inspiring and intriguing story and characters, with a high quality bar for execution. Deep interest in finding innovative solutions to problems that have plagued game development for decades. The world and IP we are creating is richly specific and original, and conveys both wonder and nostalgia.”
